Fiber & Building Technology Training Supervisor | Dallas–Fort Worth, TX

Location: Dallas–Fort Worth, TX (Traveling Position – Up to 100% Travel Required)
Job Type: Full-Time
Compensation: Competitive, based on experience (DOE)

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Fiber & Building Technology Training Supervisor to lead and execute complex fiber optic and low voltage training initiatives across active construction projects.

This leadership role supports field teams, trade partners, and project personnel by developing technical expertise, safety culture, and operational excellence in fiber optic and building technology systems. While based in the Dallas–Fort Worth Metroplex, this is a traveling position requiring flexibility to support projects nationwide.

This role supports organizational strategy, values, and long-term growth initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Training & Workforce Development

  • Teach and model strong safety culture and injury-free installation practices

  • Train teams on fiber optic (OSP & ISP) and building technology installations

  • Instruct field personnel on best practices for:

    • Structured cabling

    • Access control

    • Video surveillance (CCTV)

    • Fire alarm systems

    • AV and building automation

    • Nurse call and security systems

    • RTLS and network electronics

  • Facilitate classroom and field-based training sessions

  • Develop workforce training plans and continuous improvement programs

Project & Operational Oversight

  • Guide development and execution of work plans for fiber and low voltage installations

  • Train teams on project scheduling, productivity tracking, and cost control

  • Educate staff on budget tracking, cost coding, and performance metrics

  • Provide instruction on documentation standards, daily reporting, and QA/QC implementation

  • Coach supervisors on timekeeping and financial accountability

  • Support project pursuits, change negotiations, and planning efforts

Leadership & Coordination

  • Mentor project staff, subcontractors, and suppliers

  • Guide coordination across trades to ensure proper infrastructure readiness

  • Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion practices

  • Lead retraining efforts following safety incidents

  • Prepare teams for project review meetings and monthly reporting

  • Identify and manage project risks

Technical Expertise

  • Apply advanced knowledge of fiber optic and building technology systems

  • Provide troubleshooting and system integration guidance

  • Support configuration and programming of project software

  • Interpret blueprints, specifications, and contract terms

  • Apply Lean construction principles to improve workflow efficiency

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED (Required)

  • 5+ years of construction experience with emphasis on teaching or mentoring

  • 5+ years of experience in fiber optic (OSP & ISP) and building technology systems

  • 3+ years of experience supervising field staff or subcontractors

  • Strong understanding of construction means, methods, and project delivery processes

  • Ability to travel up to 100% nationwide

  • Valid driver’s license

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or related field

  • Experience training teams on project management fundamentals

  • Experience leading complex, multi-site technology deployments

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong leadership and communication skills

  • Ability to conduct presentations and structured training programs

  • Strong knowledge of low voltage systems and integration

  • Budget, productivity, and profitability management capability

  • Blueprint and specification reading proficiency

  • Strong collaboration and relationship-building skills

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in fast-paced environments

Work Environment

  • Frequent travel and/or relocation

  • Exposure to varying weather conditions

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

  • Frequent standing, walking, climbing, bending, and lifting

  • Occasional office-based computer work

  • Willingness to work non-traditional hours as project needs require
