Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Alarm Planning Superintendent to oversee the planning, design, coordination, and execution of fire alarm and life safety system projects throughout the Dallas–Fort Worth Metroplex.
This role serves as the technical authority for alarm system planning, ensuring all designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and client requirements. The Alarm Planning Superintendent provides leadership to field teams and supports project managers to ensure systems are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
Planning & Design

Develop and review fire alarm and life safety system layouts, riser diagrams, calculations, and equipment specifications

Ensure compliance with NFPA 72, NFPA 70 (NEC), local AHJ requirements, and building codes

Coordinate alarm system design with architectural, electrical, and mechanical plans

Prepare and review submittals, shop drawings, and technical documentation

Support permitting and approval processes with Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs)
Project Coordination

Collaborate with project managers, engineers, technicians, and contractors

Provide technical guidance during installation and commissioning

Review RFIs, change orders, and scope modifications for technical accuracy

Assist with scheduling and resource planning for alarm system projects
Quality & Compliance

Maintain quality control standards for alarm system design and installation

Conduct plan reviews, audits, and site inspections
-
Ensure proper documentation of testing, inspections, and certifications

Support final acceptance testing and client turnover
Leadership & Supervision

Supervise and mentor alarm planners, designers, and junior technicians

Provide training on codes, standards, and best practices

Promote accountability, safety, and continuous improvement

Support professional development and performance management
Client & Stakeholder Support

Serve as technical liaison for clients, consultants, and inspectors

Participate in design meetings and pre-construction conferences

Resolve technical design-related issues

Support business development with system recommendations and technical expertise
Required Qualifications
-
High school diploma or GED required
-
Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in engineering, electronics, construction management, or related field preferred

5+ years of experience in fire alarm or life safety system design, installation, or project management

Strong working knowledge of:

NFPA 72
-
NFPA 70 (NEC)

Local fire and building codes

Experience preparing alarm system drawings and submittals

Proficiency with CAD/BIM software and industry design tools

Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to DFW-area project sites
Preferred Certifications

NICET Fire Alarm Systems (Level II–IV)

Texas or local fire alarm license

Manufacturer certifications (Notifier, Siemens, Honeywell, etc.)

BICSI or related industry credentials
