About the Energy Marshall Role

As the Energy Marshall, you are responsible for the planning, control, and safe execution of all work involving electrical hazards. Working within mission-critical data center environments across the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex, you own electrical safety compliance, hazard-risk mitigation, and the site LOTO program—ensuring every energized task meets customer expectations, NFPA 70E standards, and OSHA requirements.

Energy Marshall Responsibilities

  • Ensure the proper planning, control, and execution of all work involving an electrical hazard.
  • Understand the complete scope of electrical installation work, including all associated contract documents, specifications, and drawings.
  • Ensure all Critical Planning Tools are executed and controlled properly.
  • Meet customer expectations for electrical safety, including documentation, communication, meeting attendance, and all related compliance measures.
  • Assist in work planning to identify and mitigate electrical exposures and determine where such work falls within the project schedule.
  • Develop hazard-risk assessments that include steps to eliminate hazards or control risks.
  • Ensure any work requiring an Energized Electrical Work Permit is properly completed, submitted, and safely executed.
  • Own the site Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) program, including accounting for all LOTO devices, controlling documentation, establishing electrically safe working conditions, and conducting regular audits.
  • Communicate all work involving electrical hazards to project stakeholders and affected employees.
  • Verify that all employees working around electrical hazards are properly trained and assessed for competency.
  • Maintain the PPE, grounds, and insulated goods program for the assigned site or group.
  • Verify that correct testing equipment is being used and that test verification is properly performed.
  • Report any incidents involving electrical hazards.
  • Remain on site and present for all work involving an electrical hazard.

Energy Marshall Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience in mission-critical or data center electrical construction.
  • Minimum 5 years of electrical industry experience.
  • Current NFPA 70E certification.
  • Working knowledge of LOTO procedures, energized electrical work permits, and OSHA electrical safety standards.
